This research review the effectiveness of teaching module based on radical constructivism towards rural students in Sabah. Researcher use 70 students as are sample who were chosen by purposive and matching sampling. Researchers develop teaching modules for Geography subject based on radical constructivism known as Geography Teaching Module CSAA to overcome the rural students’ learning problem. Meanwhile, the control groups were taught using the teacher-centered approach. Data were collected through pre and post tests, observations and document analysis conducted by the researcher. Effective learning should encourage learners to grab the world by understanding what the purpose of learning is and what the context within the learning is and why they have to do so. There are some perspectives regrading to the effective learning. The first thing is the significant of discovery process in learning because many people learn best in a concrete manner involving personal participation, physical or hands-on activities, and opportunities for personal discovery. The second is learning should convey learners to see their reality. Learning is greatly enhanced when concepts are presented in the context of relationships that are familiar to the student.
Moreover, most people relate better to concrete, tangible examples and experiences than to abstract conceptual models. The next point is learning should establish and encourage learners to be more active regrading to build relationship and partnership. Most students learn best through some sort of personal interaction with other students—through study groups, team learning, and so on. The fourth is learning should avoid rote learning model because it ineffective and inefficient.
And the last is learning should build learners confidence to face the various of situation dealing with learning process. Transfer of learning from one situation to another is not consistently predictable, and the ability to do so is a skill that must be learned. This essay explains about the notion of CTL besides the elaboration of the principles and the implementation of CTL in classroom. The philosophy of CTL was rooted from John Dewey poin of view. CTL is an educational process that help student see meaning in the academic subject with the context of their daily lives, that is, with the context of their personal, social, and cultural circumstances. To achieve this aim, it covers the following eight components: making meaningful connections, doing significant work, self-regulated learning, and collaborating, critical and creative thinking, nurturing the individual, reaching high standards, and using authentic assessments. In other word, when we talked about context, most people say that it is related to their social life. In the classroom teaching, CTL means teacher should present the student real world inside the classroom. Therefore, the more the instructors have experience with the actual life such as news, inter-relationship, internet and so fort the better for them to guide learners to face the real world outside.
